CHALLENGE

Every dimension is right on the sample, and nobody knows about the rest.

Diameters, heights, steps, flatness and profiles are checked with gauges and a CMM on a sample from the batch. The check takes minutes per part, the measurement depends on how the part was held, and the parts between samples are assumed.

How it shows up on the line

Sampling, not measuringOne part in fifty is measured; a drift between samples ships.
Minutes per partA CMM or a bench of gauges gives a number for one part in the time the line made twenty.
Operator influenceA hand gauge reads differently in different hands; the part-to-part spread includes the people.
Reports after the factThe inspection report is typed up from a sheet at the end of the shift.

Why it is still there

The usual fixes have usually been tried.

Contact gaugingA probe or anvil touches one point; a profile or a surface needs thousands.
2D cameras on heightA camera sees a silhouette; a height, a step or a flatness needs the third dimension.
Shiny partsMachined and plated surfaces defeat 2D lighting, and some 3D sensors too; the sensor has to suit the surface.

How DESSAR removes it

Define the featuresThe dimensions, tolerances and datums from the drawing, and the measurement that is in dispute today.
Scan in 3DA 3D scan of the part, with the sensor chosen for the surface and the resolution the tolerance needs.
Read every dimensionDiameters, heights, steps, flatness and profiles read from the scan, defects marked where they are.
Report automaticallyA report per part with the figures and the images, and the trend across the batch.

The system that removes it

Built as a product, fitted to your part and your line. Open it to run the demo and take the datasheet.

What we need from you to start

The drawing with tolerances, two or three parts, and how the dimensions are measured today. We come back with what is detectable, at what rate, and what it takes. Sensor selection, capability figures and programme detail are issued against your own application.
